Scunthorpe enhanced their unbeaten run to three matches with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Northampton in Sky Bet League 2.
With all three of the goals coming within the opening 31 minutes, the Iron did the harm in the first half.
Lee Novak fired them ahead in the 12th minute, beating the offside trap to bring down a smart pass from Ryan Colclough and envision it past onrushing goalkeeper David Cornell.
Two minutes after, the striker netted his second, this time pouncing from close range after a Kevin Van Veen header had been retained outside by Cornell.
Sam Hoskins shot extensive during a rare sight until van Veen – from his former team – curly a strike into the far corner of the internet to wrap up victory for those hosts.
Northampton improved after the break, but any hopes they had back in the game vanished when striker Vadaine Oliver was shipped away for catching Scunthorpe goalkeeper Rory Watson in the face with his boot.
There was A bloodied Watson forced off, although the Iron continued to dominate – with the crossbar denying Novak that a hat-trick late on and a mixture of Cornell.
