Euro 2020 Qualifiers: Scotland lose Kenny McLean for Russia game

Scotland have lost Kenny McLean for their European Championship qualifier against Russia in Moscow.

The midfielder has returned to Norwich after failing to overcome a slight injury issue.
Manager Steve Clarke, who lost McLeans Norwich team-mate Grant Hanley and Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack at the weekend, said:Its always disappointing once you lose players from the squad and overnight we have dropped Kenny McLean as well.
Its another setback but a excellent opportunity for someone else. Its part and parcel of international football.
Clarke, whos also overlooking Scott McTominay through suspension, also added:It is always disappointing to get rid of a participant so late in the week.
After Kenny reported, he had a small niggle – it is not right for me to say what its, thats for his club to perform out – we were all pretty convinced that Kenny would create it, but the last 24 hours it didnt get any better, but it actually got a little bit worse.
We made the choice to allow Kenny to go back into Norwich.
The Scotland boss has already given up on automatic eligibility nine things away Russia using four games while the hosts are also 22 intentions better off made.
Clarke is building to your play-offs at March but he wont sacrifice the potential to acquire results to experimentation.
No free hits, Clarke said at the Luzhniki Stadium. I want to select up 12 points in the remaining four matches. There is no strikes that are free although obviously it is a demanding one in Russia.
We owe it to the thousand or so Tartan Army lovers that are coming over as well to put on a good performance and hopefully go away with three things.
Every game you enter you wish to get the maximum, which will be three points. I want a performance level that is fantastic, I want a good performance level from the four matches.
My view is always that in case your operation level is great enough, then the points will follow.
What it means:
Steve Clarke has admitted that the play-offs are the only reasonable route to Euro 2020 and that Scotland wont qualify via this class. With four games to go, Clarke needs to mold a team capable of enjoying, and moving of setting a comprehension into the play-offs together with confidence. Russia is toughest of these four games and the next. The head coach is currently demanding victories and says not one of the matches will be hits.
Gamers, suspensions and injuries asking to be left from his group has hampered his attempts to try and build a method of enjoying and selecting teams. Conceding nine goals from the previous 3 matches, despite two of the games being against Belgium, shows Clarke should boost his negative. The group are not providing enough of a goal threat and have also just scored once in the following 3 games.
Scotland have players from the group performing due to their clubs and playing at the highest level in England – transferring that is proving hard just now. Have the opportunity. Scotland are under pressure to qualify supplied Hampden Park is a host venue and a meeting with England is about the cards in the finals if equally qualify.
Key battles:
Artem Dzyuba is Russias captain and threat. He also scored the equaliser at Hampden last month and might have felt. The striker is going to be a couple for the Scotland defence. Whoever can be tasked with him will have a match.
Where next:
Scotland head back to Hampden for a match on Sunday against San Marino – . You have 19,000 spare seats and can fit all 33,000 occupants of the nation inside Hampden. A triumph in March in Serravalle was Alex McLeishs last game in charge and did nothing to construct momentum or confidence. There will be an expectancy and desire to win and win big.
Russia vs Scotland is live on Sky Sports Football on Thursday pm
