Nabil Fekir says that he remains confused with Liverpool regarding the reasons behind his failed move to the club against Lyon last year.
The 26-year-old appeared set to join Liverpool for #53m before discussions between the two clubs at 2018 ended.
It had been reported Fekir and the Premier League club had undergone a medical and agreed personal terms, just for the price to collapse.
Reports indicated Liverpool had ended their pursuit of the France worldwide due to concerns over a knee problem.
However, Fekir insists he didn’t neglect a medical examination with Liverpool and believes the move fell through due to other motives, unknown to him.
The midfielder told L’Equipe:“There was an amazing quantity of lies told concerning it. Everything that has been said particularly in my family. As I hurt me it disturbs them.
„You want the truth? Even this is not known by me, I guarantee you. I did my own first medical examination as well as behind, they decided not to signal me.
„At one stage, they wanted me to believe it had been the knee. Nevertheless, it was a justification and tests passed at Clairefontaine were apparent.
„What irritated me was by trying to advance this pseudo-physical issue, it ruled out opportunities with other clubs which were possibly interested, although there are different players who have experienced the exact same harm and it did not prevent them from coming back to a normal trajectory.
„I have no bitterness towards Liverpool. They showed me they wanted me. But behind, when you do not surround yourself with good people, it disturbs you.“
Fekir procured a movement from Lyon, where he was their team captain, this summer to join Real Betis on a four-year-deal for a first #17.75m fee.
Fekir representative Jean-Pierre Bernes has criticised the midfielder’s newest remarks on his unsuccessful Liverpool move, saying his knee injury proved to be a valid reason negotiations broke down.
In addition, he told L’Equipe:“He’s to prevent this show and stop taking people for fools. Everyone knows what happened.
„The move to Liverpool has turned around for 2 reasons. The first is his kneeeven though the English club’s leaders were willing to make an effort.
„The next is the appearance of a overseas pseudo-representative who asked for the negotiations to be resumed from the beginning at the moment of registering.
